Hilton Garden Inn was recently granted a beer and wine license by the selectmen.
FOXBOROUGH, MA – If you’ve been near Patriot Place over the last few months, chances are you’ve noticed the new structure being built where Old Navy and Red Robin once stood.
Tuesday night, the selectmen approved a beer and wine license for the building’s occupant – Hilton Garden Inn. Attorney Karen Simao told the board that the hotel should fill a need for more rooms during major stadium events, as evident by the well-known traffic one Route 1.
“Some of (the traffic) is there not being enough rooms to stay and this will alleviate some of that so we’re excited to be able to offer that,” Simao said.
The hotel will have 136 rooms, a function space with 210 seats, a restaurant and lounge area with 143 seats, and an outdoor area with 105 seats.

Simao said the operator of Hilton Garden Inn, who also manages the neighboring Renaissance Inn at Patriot Place, explored the possibility of using the liquor license from the Renaissance for both proprieties. That proposal reached a dead end when the state’s Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission said the properties had to be adjacent and connecting for one license to be used.
“Right now we can’t do that because of the very public way between the two proprieties,” Simao said.
Simao added that the hotel would have requested a full liquor license if it was available but currently, there are none available that can be used for Route 1.
The Hilton Garden Inn is under construction and aims to open by the end of September.
